Favorite Traditions

What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
Tamara and Andrea
My family steeps Christmas in traditions, so it makes sense that my sisters would ask about them. There are so many that I enjoy, but my two favorites center around scriptures, music, and family.
Christmas Eve Program
We gather on Christmas Eve to read and sing about the birth of Christ. The evening begins with choosing parts and donning costumes for our dramatization of the nativity. As the narration ends, we sing "In a Little Stable."
After the excitement of the performance, it's time for the reading selected scriptures and singing Christmas hymns. After the As long as I can remember we have been using the program that has been included in the: “Come Let Us Adore Him,” lesson from the Family Home Evening Resource Book.
With so many distractions and responsibilities during the Christmas season, I appreciate the opportunity to gather with those I love to honor the Christ child and celebrate the birth of my Lord and Savior.
Christmas Chimes
After Christmas dinner, we pull out our pipe chimes and create Christmas carols together. It takes a bit of practice, but by the end of the session we can do basic harmonies with the chimes.
My brother, Brent, can give you some tips on cutting your own pipes. My guess is he would tell you to spend the $54.99 on premade pipe chimes. It’s a lot of work and hands tend to cramp up while cutting that many pipes. Not to mention the difficulty in tuning the cut pipes.
